The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) held a Media Briefing Workshop on the 5th February, 2020 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi. The aim of the briefing was mainly to disseminate information through the various media platforms and also clarify some of the misconceptions about the activities and capabilities of the MBS that people have.
In his remarks, MBS Director General, Symon Mandala said that the MBS intends to have a baseline information with respect to how much people know about issues of standardization, quality assurance and metrology in the country because that can help to explore the type of programs that can be implemented to make sure that awareness is created at all levels. “In some countries, issues of standardization and quality assurance are already in schools, which is not the case in our country, we need maybe to discuss with the Ministry of Education to introduce standard syllabuses in our education curriculum”, he said.
In attendance were journalists from Zodiak Broadcasting Station, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation, Times Media Group and Nation Publication Limited, just mentioning but a few.
