Responsible to      :  Assistant Accountant
Duty Station          :  Blantyre (Chileka Airport) and Lilongwe (KIA)
Number of Posts  :  Two

Job purpose
To maintain books of accounts in the main accounts office

Key duties and responsibilities
The Accounts Assistant shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Capturing financial data into the system;
  2. Issuing invoices;
  3. Receiving cash and issuing receipts on the same;
  4. Banking cash received;
  5. Maintaining banking register;
  6. Preparing financial returns
  7. Maintaining petty cash;
  8. Filing accounts documents;
  9. Reconciling creditors accounts
  10. Preparing payments;
  11. Maintaining voucher, cheques, creditors’ invoices and stationery registers;
  12. Securing accounts stationery and Preparing fuel issues and salary deductions schedules.

Minimum qualifications and experience
The applicant must possess:

  1. Diploma in Financial Accounting obtained from a recognized institution,
  2. Those with experience will have an added advantage.

The ideal applicant for the position must:

  1. Have good analytical skills;
  2. Have excellent knowledge of relevant computer software;
  3. Be self-motivated a team player and results oriented;
  4. Be of high ethical character and integrity;
  5. Be able to cope up with pressure to meet strict deadlines.
