Job purpose
To process procurement of goods and services

Key duties and responsibilities
The Procurement Officer shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Process purchase requisitions;
2. Sourcing quotations;
3. Raising local purchase order;
4. Verifying and processing invoices;
5. Buying goods and services;
6. Preparing advertisements of tendering documents;
7. Filing procurement documents;
8.Preparing requests for quotation documents;
9. Receiving and opening bids from bidders;
10. Organising resources for bid opening and evaluation;
11. Participating in the selection and evaluation of bidders;
12. Appraising the performance of Assistant Procurement Officer.

Minimum qualifications and experience
The applicant must have:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or its equivalent;
2. Post Graduate Diploma in Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply (CIPS);
3. Membership to Malawi Institute for Purchasing and Supply (MIPS) shall have an added advantage;
4. At least two years post graduate experience in procurement in a busy environment.

The ideal applicant must:
1. Have good judgement and the ability to interpret policies and procedures;
2. Be carefully attentive to accuracy and detail;
3. Have knowledge of public procurement processes, policies and procedures including the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, Desk Instructions and Guidelines;
4. Have excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office programmes such as Excel, Word;
5. Have good time management and organisational skills;
6. Be committed, motivated and able to achieve tasks within required time frame;
7. Be able to priotise important matters and act within required time frame;
8. Have positive attitude;
9. Have strong interpersonal skills.
