CALL TO ALL STUDENTS FROM ACCREDITED UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 12TH CONTINENTAL ESSAY COMPETITION FOR 2024/2025

 

The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) in collaboration with the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) and AMC Group Africa are pleased to announce to all University and College students in Malawi about the 12th Continental Essay competition.

 

THEME

 

 

“Role of Education about Standardisation (EaS) in shaping Education and African Students for the Sustainable Development opportunities and challenges in the 21st Century”.

ENTERY RULES AND CONDITIONS

 

Participants must be Citizens on Malawi below 35 years of age living in Malawi and studying in a NCHE accredited University or College.

 

Essays should be between 1,000 – 1,200 words.

 

Essays should be double spaced and presented in Century Gothic, font size 12.

 

It must be submitted in English.

 

Use up to 50 words to describe yourself including name, course and year of study (this is not part of the 1,000 – 1,200 words).

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR (Not Necessarily in the order below)

 

The General Understanding of Standards and Standardisation, and the relation with Education about Standardisation (EaS).

Clear understanding of EaS Challenges in relation to the 21st Century Solutions provided through the Implementation of Standards and Policy Strategies developed nationally or continentally in relation to the 21st Century Development requirements, opportunities, challenges, education needs and role of standards.

Problems Facing EaS Solutions and Policy Frameworks Conclusion Precise conclusion with your personal comment, and share your essay with the Specific National Standards Body within the set deadlines

NATIONAL LEVEL

 

1st Position – MWK 700,000.00

 

2nd Position – MWK 600,000.00

 

3rd Position – MWK 500,000.00

 

4th Position – MWK 400,000.00

 

5th Position – MWK 300,00.00

 

The top five winners at national level are entered into the regional and continental level

REGIONAL LEVEL

 

1st Position – USD 500.

 

2nd Position – USD 300.

 

3rd Position – USD 200.

CONTINENTAL LEVEL

 

1st Position –  1000.

 

2nd Position – USD 800

 

3rd Position – USD 500

 

Winners to be awarded at the ARSO General Assembly in Zanzibar, Tanzania – June or July 2025.

 

 

SUBMISSION

Authors should provide their postal, physical, telephone and email addresses on the first page of the essay together with the title of the essay. Also attach a copy of the National Identity Card or Passport and completely filled Registration Form that can be obtained from the MBS Head Office in Blantyre, MBS Lilongwe Office and MBS Mzuzu office.
