On Saturday, 29th October 2022, the Malawi Bureau of Standards celebrated its Golden Jubilee. The Golden Jubilee was celebrated under the theme “MBS – Partner for Industrialization”. In celebrating 50 years of promoting standardization and quality assurance in Malawi, a parade was conducted from Blantyre old town to Kamuzu College of Health Sciences where a number of activities were done.

Speaking during the event, the Acting Director General, Mr. Thomas Senganimalunje, highlighted a number of achievements the bureau has attained since its establishment in 1972. He also encouraged members of staff to always make sure that they are meeting the expectations of customers.

In his speech, the Board Chairperson, Mr. Davlin M.D. Chokazinga, thanked the Malawi Government and development partners like the European Union (EU), Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and World Bank for their technical and financial assistance that has enabled the Bureau to be where it is today.

Among other activities, the MBS recognized and honoured long serving members of staff who have served the bureau for over 25 years and also this year’s African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO) Essay Competition winners.
