MBS CHEERS ORPHANS AND PATIENTS DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON.
As part of celebrating the New Year, the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) Board, Management and Staff took an initiative to visit a foster home and selected health establishments in the Central and Northern region to cheer and encourage kids, patients and guardians. This gesture was in recognition that while we celebrate the festive season, others are not as privileged to celebrate as everyone else, due to illness and other challenges.
Speaking during the initiative, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Kansinjiro who runs Chimwemwe foster home in Kasungu, expressed her gratitude as she explained how hard it is to get help to support the kids she is looking after. Speaking after distributing the gift parcels to the kids, one of the Board members, Mr. Allie Mwachande, who also disclosed that he was raised in an orphanage, concurred with Mrs Kansinjiro saying it is never easy growing up in such an environment and that is why the MBS chose to visit and cheer them up. He also applauded Mrs Kansinjiro for never giving up on the kids despite her struggles. He then encouraged the kids to be positive and commit to their studies for a better future.
Visiting Rumphi District Hospital, the team was joined by the Member of Parliament for Rumphi Central, Honorable Mcdowel Aaron Chidumba Mkandawire. In his remarks, he expressed his gratitude saying it is a good thing that the MBS thought it wise to give back to the community by visiting, cheering and sharing gifts with the sick during this festive season. The Hounorable Member concluded by thanking the MBS’ Board, Management and Staff for the gesture.
The MBS visited Chimwemwe Foster Home and Kaluluma Health Centre in Kasungu, Mzimba District Hospital in Mzimba and Rumphi District Hospital in Rumphi. This initiative took place on the 31st December, 2021 and 1st January, 2022 respectively. The MBS spent over MWK 3,000,000.
