ION CHROMATOGRAPHY

Ion chromatography is a high performance chromatography specialized for water chemistry analysis.  It is able to measure concentrations of major anions, such as fluoride, chloride, nitrate, and sulfate, etc,  as well as major cations such as lithium, sodium, ammonium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, in low concentrations (parts-per-billion or µg/kg).

HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPH

The High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) is used for separation of various compounds of a product for identification and quantification. More importantly, it is used for the analysis of aflatoxin in agricultural products such as legumes and grains.

Atmospheric Distillation Analyser is used for analysis of compositions of oils. It analyses purity of petroleum products including petrol, diesel, paraffin and aircraft fuel, with quick, timely, impecable, precision and accuracy.

Pesticides Residues and Formulation Laboratory

For testing of residual pesticides in food and other agricultural produce such as tobacco, and for the testing of pesticide formulations for active ingredients.

Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer: Uses include drug detection, environmental analysis, and identification of unknown samples.

Microbiology Laboratory

For checking of the microbiological quality of food, water, pharmaceuticals and other products.

Radiochemistry Laboratory

For carrying out tests for radio-active material in products such as tea, tobacco and other samples.

Gamma-Ray Spectrometer: Used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of radionuclides in environmental samples.

Engineering and Materials Laboratories

For the testing of textile and leather products, packaging and building materials, among other things.

UTM – A materials testing machine for tensile and compression tests of materials
